Wages |
Effective July 1, 2025, all employees will receive a 5 percent increase in year one of the contract and 3 percent increase in years two and three. On average, UPTE members’ pay will increase 19 to 23 percent over the three-year contract. The value of the increases total $360 million. |
Health Care Premium Credits |
$75 or $100 monthly credits to offset health care premiums, totaling $900 or $1,200 annually per employee. |
Work-Life Balance |
Expanded vacation and sick leave, and enhanced approval process for vacation leave requests. Added Juneteenth as a paid federal holiday. |
Career Advancement |
New paths and mechanisms for job reclassification and salary increases. Expedited review process for reclassification requests. |
UPTE represented units at UC
The University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) union has three bargaining units representing 18,224 health care, technical and research employees.
The Health Care Professional Unit (HX) is a systemwide bargaining unit of non-supervisory licensed health care practitioners who provide a variety of clinical and medical services.
The Research Support Professionals Unit (RX) is a systemwide bargaining unit of non-supervisory research support professionals who provide highly specialized and complex scientific support for researchers
The Technical Unit (TX) is a systemwide bargaining unit of non-supervisory technical support personnel in a highly diverse unit who provide a great range of technical support services for academic and scientific research.
